About
At Mowden Pre-School, we provide our children with a safe environment enriched by experiences and activities which are linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
We recognise that every child is unique and constantly learning and encourage them to become resilient, independent, confident and sociable.
By encouraging positive relationships, the children learn to be strong and independent and develop well by being surrounded by an enabling environment in which their individual needs and experiences are responded to, valued and provided for. This is reinforced by strong relationships and partnerships between parents, carers, practitioners and the local community.
Curriculum / Special Educational Needs
We support all the children in developing their potential at their own pace with the aid of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
This curriculum covers the age range birth to five years old and is broken down into seven areas of learning:-
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Physical
Mathematics
Literacy
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
We promote Oral health and healthy eating, click here to view our video.
In accordance with the principles of the EYFS the children have access to our outdoor area where they can select activities such as digging, planting, water play, mark making, imaginative and exploratory play.
All our children are very well prepared for primary school by the time they leave us.
Although it does not guarantee a school place, almost every child goes on to attend Mowden Infant School, whom we work closely with, so we are a great place to forge those friendships in preparation for school.
Keyworker
Our key person system enables us to ensure that this is tailored to meet the needs of each individual child by means of developmentally appropriate play activities and a high level of individual adult input, we offer a varied curriculum which prepares the children academically and gives them the skills required to progress with confidence through primary school and beyond.
Special Educational Needs
We provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs, are supported to reach their full potential. We have an experienced SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who ensures our provision meets the needs of each individual child.
